ChiArts Adaptive
Reuse

The convergence of art and academics of ChiArts high school is translated into the convergence of old and new. The existing timber and masonry building is disrupted by new volumetric insertions representative of the 3 main spaces for gathering; theater, library, and gym. These new volumes still reference the old building with their structural grids, yet they show its evolution and in turn creates one singular building that develops a dialog between the building’s past and the new use of it as a high school.
