Botanic Boulevard

Reinvesting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago means making a connection between the neighborhood and nature. The project as a whole recognizes four different nodes within a stretch of land connecting Humboldt Park and Garfield Park that are related to areas of opportunity within the neighborhood.

These areas build off of existing infrastructure within education, commerce, entertainment, and agriculture. This piece of the project focuses on the historic Franklin Boulevard that runs through Humboldt Park. It is reinvigorated by pushing through traffic from the center of the boulevard to the sides, opening up more space for program within it. Biodiversity, storm water management, and activities for the community are introduced to bring life to the boulevard. With schools and a community center adjacent, these interact with the boulevard to create an active space for engagement that builds connections and strengthens the community.
